Overview
Monster IT can install and maintain PBX based, and VoIP phone systems to meet your telecommunication needs.
Whether you have 1 office or 100 offices, MIT’s portfolio of reliable phone systems can meet your needs.
If you are uncertain about the acronyms PBX or VoIP, you are not alone. Here is what they mean:
PBX
stands for Private Branch Exchange, which is a telephone exchange that serves a particular
business or office. In other words, it is a phone switch.
VoIP
stands for Voice over IP. IP is the standard protocol to transmit information over the Internet. Thus VoIP
phone uses the internet to transmit your calls
PBX or VoIP
Recently many clients have approached us about helping them to choose the right phone system, or upgrade
their existing phone system. They often ask whether VoIP phone is right for them, since they are rising
on popularity.
These are the key factors we advise our clients to consider:
Primary usage pattern - One of the largest benefit of VoIP is that rates on out of state or out of country are much
lower. You will save a lot of money if your company makes a lot of out of state or international calls. Therefore,
you should look at your phone bill and see where you call the most.
Multi-Location – To maximize the cost saving of VoIP, both locations must have VoIP. You can potentially save cost
on toll charges, intrastate and interstate call charges typically charged by common carriers if caller and receiver
both have VoIP.
Innovative Functions – VoIP phones have more new functions than traditional PBX, such as email messaging,
soft-phone, virtual extension, web-based user menu etc. All these can be very helpful if you have multiple
office locations, or if your staff telecommutes most of time.
Startup or Upgrade cost – Consider both the equipment and installation cost for your desired system.
Cost for VoIP phone system has decreased over the years, and is very competitive with traditional PBX phones.
However, the price range is still wide. For example, basic VoIP system can cost $2K-$3K, but a high end Cisco
solution can cost $30K-$40K (depends on project size).
Quality – Always choose quality over quantity. There are many vendors/brands of phone systems available
on the market. While some boasts lots of bells and whistles, it means nothing if the system malfunctions
all the time. Sometimes it pays to go with an established brand.
Ease of use – A good technology product should be easy to learn, easy to use. With proper training, you should
be able to handle basic user functions. Commonly used functions (such as call pickup, check voice mails etc.)
should be intuitive and easily accessible.
Maintenance and Support - Finally, maintenance support is just important. You will need help some day, and
choosing the right service provider will make life easier for you. At Monster IT, we are committed to provide
top notch service and support. We have many service options available, and we are very responsive.
